How to Use Affirmations to Your Advantage

When you first start to use positive affirmations and the Law of Attraction, you begin to realize that you can influence your experiences in life by working on your thoughts, beliefs, and feelings. Positive affirmations allow you to manifest all your heart’s desires by believing that what you want is indeed possible. If you wanna change your life and attain everything you desire, here’s how you can use positive affirmations to reach that goal.

1. Figure out what you want

First things first, when it comes to affirmations, you have to know precisely what it is that you want. Are you hoping to land a better job? Do you want to lose weight? Do you want to be able to purchase a new home? Not only do you have to know what you are asking for, but you have to be mindful of how you’re asking for it. Too many times, people will list what they don’t want. Unfortunately, when your affirmations focus on what you don’t want, your subconscious mind will focus on the negatives of your desires. Have you ever been so worried about something happening that you actually ended up making it happen? Like walking up a flight of stairs while in front of people and thinking “don’t trip, you got this, don’t trip”, and then you end up tripping? Let’s focus on what you do want, okay. We alllllll know what we don’t want, but very few of us know what we actually do want instead.

2. Believe that what you’re saying is true or will be true

The words you speak aren’t enough to imprint your subconscious with an idea or a vision, but require emotions to be triggered by the words you speak. Your affirmations need to be believable, and you need to consider them possible if you want them to come to fruition. Saying something you have little to no inkling of faith or belief in isn’t really going to do anything for you.. When we have negative feelings and emotions, they only get in the way when we are trying to receive any positive emotions back. For your affirmations to be effective, you will need to develop techniques that will allow you to overcome these negative emotions, if you have them. For example, if you genuinely believe that you are ugly, starting affirmations saying “I am sexy” may not be effective. But maybe, starting off by saying “my nose is alright” or “I like the freckles on my hand” will be easier statements to believe and recite without a lot of resistance. Once the person is comfortable with smaller affirmations, it’ll be easier to add on more and shift their belief.

3. Rehearse the actualization of the affirmation in your head

If you want to be able to generate a positive emotional state, you have to be able to imagine how it will feel to have achieved your goal. The feelings you have about achieving your goal are what need to be manifested to generate what you are asking for. You need to be able to understand what this feels like and practice incorporating it when asking for what you want because it is the emotions and feelings that you send out into the universe that will be what you’ll get back. So for example, if you are the person that believes they are ugly but secretly wants love and marriage, actually visualizing what that’d be like helps the possibility become more real. If you can see it in your mind, it is something you can make happen in real life.

Now I know some of this may seem woo-woo, but personal growth and development, manifestation, and the power of the spoken word all play a big role in our lives. They seem to play minuscule roles in our lives, but have you ever known someone that seemed to be on the path to massive success but drastically “fell off” their game, or knew someone from high school that was the prettiest or the most buff that now has gained tremendous weight, has teeth missing or got strung out on drugs? Not only do I hear these stories as a life coach, but I have seen them in my personal life. What we believe is possible for ourselves matters, what we believe is possible for others matters.
